Ultrasound

We have considerable expertise in ultrasound scanning. Both Dan and Pablo have used this tool for many years and have also undergone further training.

 

Ultrasound can be used in many scenarios:

  • Abdominal scans for investigation of a broad range of conditions, such as:

    • Weight loss

    • Vomiting and diarrhoea

    • Endocrine disease

    • Kidney disease

    • Reproductive disease, e.g. pyometra

    • Urinary disease

    • Neoplasia

  • Heart scans (echocardiography): 

    • For investigation of cardiac disease​

    • As a screening tool for cardiac disease

  • Pregnancy scans

  • Emergency scans in the critical patient:

    • Thoracic - to check for abnormal accumulation of fluid (pleural effusion) or air (pneumothorax) around the lungs, an abnormal accumulation of fluid around the heart (pericardial effusion), or to look for evidence of fluid within the lung itself (pulmonary oedema)

    • Abdomen - to check for internal bleeds, bladder rupture, or infection (peritonitis)
